WHY ARE YOUR TALENTED EMPLOYEES LEAVING?
When talented employees leave, they leave for a reason. In most cases, the reason is problems with their manager, problems with aspects of the company culture, or problems with their job.
However, exiting employees are very unlikely to tell anyone in the company the real reason for leaving. This would be an uncomfortable conversation, it may cause a breakdown in the relationship, and the employees don’t want to burn bridges. So they simply say that they are moving for more pay or a better opportunity. When you hear that, you can be pretty sure it’s a lie. And that’s why traditional exit interviews don’t work very well. |
WHY IS THIS A PROBLEM?
hat this means is that you are painfully unaware of the REAL PROBLEMS which are causing employee turnover in your business. This has a direct bottom-line impact on the business. There are financial costs in replacing the employee - such as recruitment fees, lost productivity, and training to get the new hire up to speed. Not to mention the intangible costs such as the negative impact on staff morale, and the potential loss of customers and intellectual property.
If you could identify the real problems causing employee turnover in the first place, then you would be in a much better position to effectively address those issues, and retain your talented employees in future.

A SMART NEW APPROACH TO THE EXIT INTERVIEW
FeedbackRocket has developed award-winning technology which enables important work-place conversations that would never happen face-to-face. We've pioneered the user of online "protected conversations" - private, one-on-one web-based conversations between an exiting employee and an authority figure, where the employee remains anonymous throughout the process.
We give exiting employees the safety to have those difficult but necessary conversations about their reasons for leaving - without the fear of what the reaction is going to be. For the first time, you get the feedback that is so crucial for identifying the real problems in the organization that are causing your talented employees to leave! |
HOW IT WORKS
IDENTIFYING PROBLEM HOT-SPOTS
Each month, we send out email invitations to all employees who have given notice or resigned during the month, inviting them to complete a short online survey. In the survey, we ask the employees to highlight the specific areas in which they experienced the biggest problems, covering: 1) The Job and the Work 2) Career Prospects 3) Pay & Benefits 4) Management Style of the Boss 5) Work Environment 6) Views of Senior Management 7) Relationship with Co-Workers 8) Culture & Internal Politics 9) Work Life 10) Sexual Harassment 11) Discrimination |
We then drill down into each of these areas to pin-point exactly where the greatest problems were experienced. For example if Pay was identified as the main reason for leaving, then we'd find out whether the employee's pay was deemed too low relative to the market, relative to their colleagues, or relative to their perceived contribution to the organization. There may have also been issues around transparency of pay practices, favoritism shown in the allocation of pay, and so on.
The result is an insightful view of the specific hot-spots that need to be addressed in order to prevent future talent from leaving.

OPEN-ENDED COMMENTS
We ask exiting employees to describe in detail the main underlying problems that caused them to leave. Employees are completely anonymous and so provide the REAL reasons for leaving (and not the "watered-down" responses that they would typically give in a face-to-face exit interview). We also ask employees how they think the problems they experienced could be resolved. This is not necessarily to get them to stay (by this stage, it's usually too late) but rather to prevent the same issues from causing other employees to leave in the future. These employees are encouraged to provide constructive, actionable suggestions that can make a real impact. |
FeedbackRocket collects the responses across all employees who completed the survey, and groups them into relevant themes to complement the quantitative analysis. So not only do you know where the problem hot-spots are, but you also now understand the context behind the ratings, and what needs to be done to sort it out.
DETAILED MONTHLY REPORT
Every month, FeedbackRocket collates all the feedback from the exiting employees and prepares a detailed report which highlights the problem areas, provides a description of the issues being experienced, and puts forward solutions from the employees themselves to fix the problem areas. We identify trends from month-to-month, and provide a rigorous analysis to ensure that you get all the actionable insights you need to retain your future talent. |
INTERACTIVE ANONYMOUS CHAT
After viewing our monthly report, there may be one or two open-ended comments or ratings that you find particularly interesting and which you'd like to explore further. While we can't share the name of the employee who provided the comment or rating, we do enable you to conduct a private online text conversation with the employee. You can probe and investigate the specific issues until you're satisfied. The employee remains anonymous throughout the whole process, so you can be assured of honest and useful responses. This is a very powerful way of opening up the lines of communication with exiting employees who would otherwise be very reluctant to share their true thoughts. |
